Installing an Internal Memory Card Reader in Windows XP\2003\ME\98

When doing a full initial install of Windows XP\2003\98\ME on a system with a USB Memory Card Reader you must disconnect the reader from the motherboard. Windows will load normally but upon its first or second boot to Windows problems may occur. A Memory Card Reader may be assigned C:, D:, E:, F:, G; and your hard drive could become H:. This will cause numerous problems. The least of which is boot problems. Windows XP will not allow you to change the drive letter on the boot drive. SO, if you missed the disconnect, get ready to reload the OS again.

Optical Mouse Erratic Movement

If your optical mouse moves erratically be sure to use it on a Mouse Pad with very little detail. Wood grain, detailed pictures and some cloth mouse pads can cause the mouse’s optical sensor to confuse its location. The result is jumpy, jerky movements. Use a hard mouse pad.

Laptop Touch Pad Erratic Movements

In ever single instance of complaint I’ve seen about erratic movements on a touch pad device, the problem was another finger on your hand contacting the touch pad while using your pointer finger to move the pointer. 2 options here, One, be more careful. Two, use an external mouse.
